One of the easiest things you can do to live a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle, is to stop using plastic utensils, containers, and straws. Your go-to single-use or storage plastics can be substituted with re-usable products made of glass, metal or bamboo.
Chemicals in plastic can leach into food and drink, harming our health. Here are a few tips:
Buy and store food in glass containers
Don’t heat food or store fatty foods in plastic containers
Don’t give your little one plastic teethers or toys
Use natural fiber clothing, bedding, and furniture
Ensure that any plastic used is BPA free at a minimum
Avoid all PVC and Styrene products
Here are some of my favorite sustainable products, for an easy zero-waste win!
Stainless steel food storage container byU-Konserve. A certifiedB Corp. A sustainable way to bring lunch to work, this versatile stainless steel food container has lasted me for years and is still going strong.
Another favorite, are reusable wood utensils. I bring my reusable utensil set to work, re-packing the utensils in their cute cloth case upon my return home for washing. So easy, right?
The next fun way I’ve incorporated a bit of sustainability into my daily routine is by purchasing stainless steel covers for my mason jars and adding ametal strawalong with it. This is how I drink my kombucha or smoothies, without worrying about spills.
The last new product I’ve incorporated into my life, are these adorable beeswax food wraps. They are so much easier to use than I expected. They bend around plate rims and fold to hold sandwiches. Simply wash them after use, air dry, and they are ready to go!
