I’m back to Kombucha home brewing.
It’s been about 6 years since I brewed my last home batch.
This time, I decided to be super adventurous and grow my own scoby.
It was way easier than I thought! Even in my cold kitchen. I used organic Earl Grey tea (my favorite!), which is not recommended, but it came out beautifully.
I followed the instructions on the Kitchn blog. I enjoy this blog for all the delicious, healthy recipes they feature.
Go ahead, try it. I’m now enjoying my first home brewed batch. So worth it!
Here is my recipe for Kombucha Home Brewing using a 2 quart Ball Jar:
8 cups of filtered water
5 organic black tea bags
1/2 a cup of organic sugar
1 cup of your favorite starter tea
Boil water. Take off heat and add sugar. Dissolve the sugar and then add tea bags. Let the tea bags steep until the water cools to room temperature.
Then gently place the scoby in the Ball Jar with the starter tea, and add the sweet tea mixture. Cover with a pretty napkin, and let sit for 14 days approximately until you are ready to enjoy!
